Fall in love with Mar Vista Heights
My husband and I decided to purchase a home in Whittier because it was beautiful town geographically close to Downtown Los Angeles. When we first started looking for homes in the area we noticed that Whittier seemed to have a lot of potential for being an up and coming town.
We had our sights set on moving to Mar Vista Heights and settled there for a couple of reasons.
The first reason is because of its central location. Just a few minutes to our right we have Uptown Whittier, where our business, Global IT, is located and is conveniently next to some amazing restaurants and shops. (If you are ever having lunch in Uptown we recommend trying the New Lobster Tacos at Off the Hook, Meatball Sandwich at the Deli Up, Tom Kha soup at Greenleaf Thai, Costa Azul Sandwich at Bailey Street Kitchen and Hondo mushroom Tacos at Bazarra Capital.) Just a few minutes to our left are the amazing schools that our children attend, more conveniently located shops and restaurants in addition to Friendly Hills Country Club.
"The fall sunsets will literally stop you in your tracks."
The second reason we moved to Mar Vista Heights is because of the amazing views. The fall sunsets will literally stop you in your tracks. I find myself paralyzed and in awe while I watch the sky turn bright colors of pick and orange. Our summer nights sparkle with city lights while visiting with friends out on the patio. Every night around 9 pm, we can view the Disneyland fireworks right outside our kitchen window. We have all the perks of a home in Hollywood Hills without the traffic and the large sticker price.
After getting established here, we learned that there were even more reasons to love living in Mar Vista Heights. Having Turnbull Canyon trails so close has been wonderful. Hiking the trails is a great way to release stress and break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sometimes when I hike the back end of the trails I feel like I am completely out of the city.
"It is always nice to work alongside people that take pride in their community and give so much time to make it a better place for everyone."
Another discovery that we didn’t know when we moved here, is how much of a small town feel Whittier is. My husband, my daughters and I have all been active in volunteering for non-profit organizations in the area. It is always nice to work alongside people that take pride in their community and give so much time to make it a better place for everyone. There seems to be a comradery in Whittier that is very unique and makes me proud to live here.
